About the Winery
“Our mission is simple: We want to make good wines, and provide a warm, friendly place for our guests to enjoy them.”
-Claire Livingston, Owner
A Little History
Cavender Creek Vineyards was originally founded in 2006 by Raymond Castleberry and his wife Donna. Raymond and Donna are both retired school teachers who enjoyed making wines greatly, but in 2015 they decided it was time to retire from their pastime. Claire Livingston purchased the winery in 2015 and has since then led our team to maintain our rustic roots while also continuing to grow and modernize our business. It was the Castleberry’s goal to make good wines to enjoy with friends, and that tradition was
passed on to Claire as it remains our main focus!
About the Vines
Here at Cavender, we endeavor to produce hand-crafted wines that reflect the personal attention to detail that a winery of our size allows.
Mr. Castleberry put his heart into growing this winery, even planting every vine by hand. Our winemaker and vineyard manager both show the same kind of care when ensuring our vines have everything they need to thrive. The vineyard vines include: Norton, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Manseng.
About the Wines
After the first and award winning wines were produced the tasting room was opened to share the labor of love that is Cavender Creek Vineyards and Winery. Since then, we have produced many vintages, both reds and whites, both dry and semi-sweet, and our tasting room has become a favorite place to spend the afternoon relaxing and tasting wines.
Cabin in the Vines
At the heart of the winery sits an 1820’s hand-hewn log cabin. This was originally intended to serve as the winery tasting room, but was quickly outgrown. The cabin now serves as a delightful get-a-way retreat and is available to rent.
Our Famous Donkeys and Farm Stewards
We want Cavender Creek to feel like the working farm that it is! Our mascots are our Sicilian Donkeys, Hotie (Donkey Hotie), and Dulcinea who are featured on our wine labels and logos. They have both served as the namesake for several of our wines. Another favorite on our farm are our pasture guardian dogs, Tinker Bell and Tucker. They are both Great Pyrenees, and although massive they are extremely lovable and friendly. Our other farm stewards include free range vineyard chickens.
Our animals are friendly and are a large part of making our vineyard unique, rustic, and authentic.
